How long does the direct debit take to set up? +
Your direct debit will normally show as active within your bank's direct debit tab within 1 business day. However this can vary per bank so it may take up to 3 business days from when you sign up. Do not start any account switch until you have confirmed the direct debit is active.
What happens after I click "Set Up Now"? +
You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page where you enter your email address and bank account details (sort code and account number). Stripe sets up the direct debit mandate on your behalf. The whole process takes under 60 seconds.
How quickly does the payment appear on my statement? +
For the "First of the Month" plan, your first payment is collected on the first working day of the following month. For "Setup ASAP" and "One & Done", the first payment is collected as soon as possible — typically within 3 business days. After that, subsequent payments follow the same date each month.
Can I use this to qualify for bank switching offers? +
Yes — that's exactly what Easy Debit is designed for. Most UK bank switching offers require you to have at least 2 active direct debits. Easy Debit gives you a cheap, hassle-free way to meet that requirement. You do not need to be switching your primary bank account — you can use any eligible UK account.

Safety & Security

Is Easy Debit safe? +
Yes. Easy Debit never sees or stores your bank account details. All mandates are set up directly through Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment platforms. Stripe uses strong encryption to keep your details safe. You are also protected by the UK Direct Debit Guarantee.
Will this affect my credit score? +
No. Setting up a direct debit mandate does not involve a credit check and will not appear on or affect your credit file in any way.
What is the Direct Debit Guarantee? +
The Direct Debit Guarantee is a protection scheme offered by all UK banks and building societies. If an error is made in the payment of your direct debit — for example, the wrong amount is taken or a payment is taken on the wrong date — you are entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank. This applies to Easy Debit mandates just like any other direct debit.
Who processes my payment? +
All payments are processed by Stripe. Easy Debit does not handle your bank details directly. The direct debit reference on your bank statement will show as Easy Debit.

Cancellation

Can I cancel at any time? +
Yes, absolutely. You can cancel your direct debit mandate at any time through your bank — either online in your banking app (usually found under "Regular Payments" or "Direct Debits"), by calling your bank, or by visiting a branch. You can also email us at info@easydebit.co.uk and we'll help you cancel.
How does the "One & Done" plan work? +
The One & Done plan sets up a direct debit that collects a single £5 payment and is then automatically cancelled after one month. You don't need to do anything — no logging in, no calling your bank. It's designed for people who want to meet the direct debit requirement for a bank switching offer without any ongoing commitment or risk of forgetting to cancel.
What happens if I cancel the direct debit before switching? +
If you cancel before completing your bank switch, the direct debit will no longer count toward the eligibility requirements of the switching offer. Make sure your switch is fully complete before cancelling.

Plans & Pricing

What is the difference between "First of the Month" and "Setup ASAP"? +
Both plans set up a recurring monthly direct debit. The difference is timing. "First of the Month" collects payment on the first working day of each month and costs £1/month. "Setup ASAP" is activated as quickly as possible — ideal if you're in a hurry to qualify for a switching offer — and costs £2/month.
Can I set up more than one direct debit? +
Yes — there's no limit. If you need 2 or more direct debits to qualify for a switching offer, simply purchase multiple plans. Each will have its own unique direct debit mandate reference.
Do you offer custom direct debits? +
Yes. We offer custom direct debits for specific dates, amounts, or currencies. Email us at info@easydebit.co.uk with your requirements and we'll aim to reply within 24 hours.
Do I need to use my primary bank account? +
No. You can use any eligible UK bank account to set up your direct debits with Easy Debit. You don't need to be switching your main account — any account that can receive direct debits will work.
