This policy explains what personal information Easy Debit ("we", "us") collects when you use easydebit.co.uk or set up a direct debit with us, how we use it, and your rights. If you have any questions, email info@easydebit.co.uk.
What we collect
- Checkout details: When you set up a direct debit, our payment provider Stripe collects your name, email address, billing address and bank account details. We receive your name, email address and billing address, and limited payment information such as the last four digits of your account number and your payment history. We don't receive or store your full bank account details.
- Messages you send us: If you email us, we keep your email address and the content of your message so we can reply.
Our website doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To set up and collect your direct debit payments, and to cancel them when requested (performance of our contract with you).
- To contact you about your direct debit, for example payment confirmations, failed payments or cancellations (performance of contract).
- To answer your questions and resolve problems (legitimate interests).
- To keep financial records we're required to keep by law (legal obligation).
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing unless you've asked us to.
Who we share it with
- Stripe: Stripe processes all payments and direct debit mandates on our behalf. Its privacy policy explains how it handles your information.
- Google Fonts: Our pages load fonts from Google, which receives your IP address when you visit.
- Where required by law: For example, to HMRC or law enforcement.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your direct debit is active and for as long as we need it afterwards to deal with queries or refunds. Financial records are kept for six years to meet HMRC requirements.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your personal information, correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. To use any of these rights, email info@easydebit.co.uk.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
